Hadapsar, Pune
Furniture & layout
Furniture and layout is the discipline of deciding where things go and what they should be, before anything is bought. Bhumi Interior Studios plans furniture layouts for homes in Hadapsar and across Pune, sourcing pieces where the right one exists and commissioning bespoke joinery where it does not.
Layout comes before furniture, always. A plan tells you how a room is entered, where a person will stop, and what they will see when they turn around. Furniture that ignores those three facts will feel wrong no matter how good the individual piece is.
Once the plan is settled we source. Sometimes the right chair exists and can be bought. Often the right cabinet is the one that runs the exact length of the wall it sits against, and that has to be made. Pune has good makers, and we work with them directly.
We draw furniture into the plan at true size, including the space around it that nobody sells you but everybody uses: the swing of a door, the pull of a drawer, the room to push a chair back from a table.

Questions about furniture & layout
- Do you supply the furniture, or do I buy it myself?
- Either. We specify every piece and we can manage the purchase and delivery, or hand you a schedule and let you buy at your own pace. Bespoke pieces we design and coordinate with the maker directly.
- Can you work with furniture I already own?
- Yes. Most homes have two or three pieces worth keeping, whether for their quality or because of who they came from. We measure them, place them in the plan, and design around them rather than pretending they are not there.
